Every message between your phone and your lock is end-to-end encrypted: only the sender and the recipient can read it. Nuki compares this security level to online banking. The command that opens your door is protected like a banking transaction.

Common questions about security
Are smart locks actually secure?
Security varies by brand, which is why independent testing matters. Nuki has been tested by the AV-TEST institute since the first generation and carries the Secure IoT Product certificate, backed by end-to-end encryption and regular updates.
Does Nuki collect my data?
Unless you create a Nuki account, your data is not stored on Nuki servers; the lock also works without an account. The encryption concept works without cloud data. The company is based in Europe and complies with KVKK and GDPR.
Will my door still open if the internet goes down?
Yes. The connection between your phone and the lock also works locally over Bluetooth; unlock authority does not depend on a cloud. And the mechanical cylinder stays in place: your physical key works in every situation.
Is the encryption really bank-grade?
Nuki end-to-end encrypts the communication between phone and lock and compares this security level to online banking. This is not a marketing line; it is verified by the AV-TEST institute's regular testing.
Can someone take over my lock remotely?
